WOVNET’s work has facilitated a more vibrant local civil society. Shallot represents vendors
on the Women Vendors Committee in the Bushenyi District. Although this committee is
technically separate from WOVNET, Shallot applies knowledge she learned from
WOVENET training to navigate complicated procedures that women vendors go through to
get registered by local authorities

WOVNET Objectives
To work with Local Governments to develop strategies and provide the women vendors
with clean market spaces for trading their goods and merchandise
2) To promote women empowerment through building capacity in terms of training, in
business management, access to financial institutions, advocacy and leadership skills
3) To mobilize and organize women vendors in the informal sector into networks and
groups to advocate effectively
4) To support women vendors access basic rights like education, legal access, justice etc .
5) To support women vendors to be agents of change for advocacy and support within the
informal sector.
6) To disseminate on the rights of women vendors
